Terry was born to William Marvin “Bill” Bradshaw and Novis on 2 September 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Terry is the middle child of his parents with an elder brother, Gary, and a younger brother, Craig. He spent his childhood in Camanche with his family and moved to Shreveport in his teenage. He attended the Woodlawn High School and in 1965 led his school’s Knight football team to the AAA state championship.

However, the team lost against Sulphur Golden Tornadoes. For his further studies he joined the Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. He also became the member of the university’s organization Tau Kappa Epsilon. Terry has been married four times and three of his marriages ended up on divorce.

From 1972-1973 he was married to Melissa Babish, from 1976-1983 he was married to Jo Jo Starbuck, and from 1983-1999 he was the husband of Charla Hopkins. Terry married for the fourth time in 2014 to Tammy Bradshaw.

Adjusting to the NFL was not easy for Terry, but after playing a few seasons he led his team to the AFC Central championships eight times.
