He is also a record executive and an entrepreneur with a career spanning over two decades now. He was discovered at just 13 years old by birdman in 1996 and later joined the Cash Money Records label which saw him become the youngest member of the record label. For 22 years, Lil Wayne was the flagship artist of the Cash Money Records label before he terminated his contract in 2018. His solo album Tha Block Is Hot which debuted him to the rap music scene in 1999 was certified as platinum by the RIAA. He went on to release a few more albums with his fourth Tha Carter, 2004 which enhanced his popularity further.

Lil Wayne gained major prominence in 2008 when he released the third series album of tha Carter called Tha Carter III which emerged as his most successful. Born on the 27th of September, 1982, Dwayne spent some of his early days in the poor neighborhood of Hollygrove in New Orleans. His parents divorced while he was just two years old. His mother worked as a cook, as the father vanished never to associate himself with the young family again. Reginald Mcdonald became a part of their family and is the one Wayne considers as the father, even though he is deceased now. He attended Lafayette Elementary before enrolling with the Eleanor McMain Secondary for two years. He furthered his education at the Marion Abramson Senior High school.

He later met Bryan Williams who was and still is the CEO of Cash Money Records and a rapper in 1991. He started recording at that age of 11 with fellow young artistes such as B.G. Carter was then raced to a hospital at the age of 14 years after deliberately shooting himself with a 9 mm handgun.
