David Spade was born on 22 July 1964 in Birmingham, Michigan to Judith J. and Wayne M. Spade. His father was a sales representative while his mother was a writer and editor in a magazine. David has two brothers Bryan and Andy Spade. David was 4 years old when his family shifted to Scottsdale, Arizona.

After the divorce of his parents, David and his brothers stayed with their mother. David went to Saguaro High School and attended Scottsdale Community College. He graduated from Arizona State University and received his degree in business in the year 1986. He has performed as a stand-up comedian in his university show Farce Side Comedy Hour.
