Joe Walsh (full name Joseph Fidler Walsh) was born in Wichita, Kansas, on 20 November 1974. His mother belongs to German and Scottish ancestry. Moreover, she was a trained pianist. Jos’s stepfather adopted him at the age of five years. There is not much detail about his biological father as he died in a plane crash.
During his school life, it was necessary for school registration to took the name of stepfather, so he used Walsh as his middle name by his biological father. Walsh, along with his family, used to live in Columbus, Ohio, during his youth life. At the age of 12, he moved to New York along with his family. Later, Joe moved to Montclair, New Jersey, for education purposes.

He was a part of an influential group named Nomads in New Jersey, where is replaced the bass player Bruce Hoffman and began his career as a musician.

In 1967, He had a band named James Gang along with Glenn Schwartz, who was the guitarist at that time, decide to leave the group because of his family issue, and he moved to California.
