His mother brought up the kids own her own and raised them in a neighborhood of Old Brooklyn named Cleveland.
All the family members got depression because of the loss of their father. Thus, they faced many financial problems. However, his mother struggled a lot to support her family.
Carey did his graduation in 1975 from James Ford Rhodes High School. In his school life, he used to play cornet and trumpet in the marching band.
To complete his graduation, he went to Kent State University. But he dropped out from there because of his poor academic performance.
