She is the only daughter of American television executive Sylvester “Pat” Weaver and English actress Elizabeth Inglis. She attended the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, Connecticut, and The Chapin School and The Brearley School. Later on, Weaver completed her graduation from Sarah Lawrence. Then she enrolled at Stanford University and completed her B.A. in English in 1972.
